stim (2026)
by Jacob Jeffries
Wife sent me this. She could not stop laughing and dancing. I listened to the first track and replied “It’s shit” but changed my mind on a very improbable second listen.
It’s fun. Performed by Jeffries and a second, a hype man. I imagined them, two bros on a weekend, comfortably microdosed, singing the entire album into a laptop over an hour or less. Each track is only a minute and a half long and the album’s 11 minutes for the attention deficited. I do wonder what the B-side and rejects sound like. It’s very clear that he’s a legit musician. I heard what would’ve been a perfect (viral?) COVID project for the bored and talented. I also thought of Das Racist. I considered the album cover and wondered which tracks involved das arse for percussion.
It made me miss my friends from college. I sent this to them and know they’ll love it.
He’s selling the masterpiece in vinyl. Here he is singing a nice song. Here’s his Instagram account. There’s a “stim II” I will listen to right before I land in NYC later this month.
